Dr. R.P. Ashanti-Alexander
Educational History:
Dr. R.P. Ashanti-Alexander is a Chickasha native having attended Lincoln School in 1956 as a 1st grader. He is a 1968 graduate of Chickasha Public Schools. Dr. Ashanti-Alexander’s educational credentials are; B.A. and M.Ed. Degrees from the University of Central Oklahoma; M.S. Degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Nebraska (Omaha) and an Ed.D in Social Foundations from the University of Oklahoma. He has completed further study at the Phillips Theological Seminary, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Current Position:
Dr. Ashanti-Alexander was assigned to Lincoln Elementary in 2015. Previously, he had served as the assistant principal of Chickasha Middle School under Mr. Dan Turner. Prior to his assignment at CMS, he was a Social Studies teacher at Chickasha High School from 2012-2015.
Previous Position:
He has served as a Public School educator for 42 years. Dr. Ashanti-Alexander has taught in Oklahoma and Nebraska. In Oklahoma, he has been a classroom teacher and Counselor (Enid and Chickasha): Assistant Principal (Chickasha and Oklahoma City); and Principal (Tulsa and Chickasha).
Family Information:
Dr. Ashanti-Alexander and his wife, Rosalind, have six children and eleven grandchildren. He believes that the mission of education is to “create for all children an educational experience that prepares them for college and vocational/career readiness at the elementary level”.
Personal Information:
Dr. R.P. Ashanti-Alexander is active in the Chickasha community, serving on the Board of Directors of the Chickasha Optimist Club, President of the Chickasha Branch NAACP, Pastor of Miles-Brown CME Church, and City Council Representative of Ward 3. He is a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1973-1979.
